Solemn Novena in Honor of St. Joseph
At different times in your life, have you needed guardians and mentors to lead you on your way or to lend a hand? Two such model companions are St. Joseph and Venerable Nelson Baker. Both had extraordinary qualities in common.
- St. Joseph was a provider for Jesus and Mary, a daring dreamer who trusted, listened to God’s plans and responded to them as they unfolded in his life.
- Like Joseph, Father Baker was a dreamer who trusted in God and Our Lady of Victory to lead him in his ministry with the marginalized and faithless.
We invite you to join us by praying the St. Joseph Novena from March 11-19, in our Basilica or in the comfort of your home. At the bottom of this page is the Saint Joseph Litany Prayer and a short, original prayer to Saint Joseph written by the sisters here at OLV Charities.
You are also welcome to click the button below to download our special Saint Joseph Prayer Booklet. It includes six unique prayers to help guide you on your spiritual journey throughout the week.
Also, we invite you to send us your special intentions so they can be remembered in the Novena Masses and prayers in the Basilica.
And, in the spirit of responsibility and compassion, I hope you’ll be inspired to follow the example of St. Joseph and Father Baker by making a gift to support our ministry. Your donation -- of any amount -- will lift up those in need and keep their dreams alive!
Litany of St. Joseph
Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
Christ, hear us.
Christ, graciously hear us.
God, the Father of Heaven,
God, the Son, Redeemer of the world,
God, the Holy Spirit,
Holy Trinity, one God,
Holy Mary, pray for us.
St. Joseph,
Renowned offspring of David,
Light of the Patriarchs,
Spouse of the Mother of God,
Chaste guardian of the Virgin,
Foster father of the Son of God,
Diligent protector of Christ,
Head of the Holy Family,
Joseph most just,
Joseph most chaste,
Joseph most strong,
Joseph most obedient,
Joseph most faithful,
Mirror of patience,
Lover of poverty,
Model of workmen,
Glory of homelife,
Guardian of virgins,
Pillar of families,
Solace of the wretched,
Hope of the sick,
Patron of the dying,
Terror of demons,
Protector of Holy Church.
Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, spare us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, graciously hear us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us, O Lord.
He made him the lord of his household.
And prince over all his possessions.
Prayer to St. Joseph
O St. Joseph! You were a
quiet listener, a strong and loving
protector of Jesus and Mary.
Help us to mirror your example of
openness, humility, faithfulness, and trust.
Guide us in nurturing, supporting, and
protecting all children. We ask this
in the name of Jesus. Amen.
